berkeley .... i think thats how its spelled....
We are in berkeley today and for the next few days before heading to bend.
To start the day off I got a coffee from Starbucks.... Big mistake. My body says no.
so the shows here at Berkely are going well so far. the crew was good today, though they have a rep for droping the ball and taking their sweet time.... let hope that doesn't get in the way of the show this time. i'll just say its nice to be in a good venue for more than a day.
Being that this is my first time to Berkely i was kinda suprised to see the town. its a bit more run down that i had hoped to see.. but real tight streets, lots of kids.... all kinds of old buildings.. it was pretty sweet. ish.
the venue is older but well done. a nice house. blah blah blah... yeah same ole same ole. but at least we get to stay there for a few days. now if only we could figure out what the heck is going on with one of our moving lights... keep blowing fuses.. really a bother.

modesto.
It has been a day.
Left Santa Barbra this morning at 7 am....i think...... then drove for 4 hours to Modesto, Ca.
While on the drive however my GPS totally stopped picking up Satellites all together! It was really lame. I mean i knew where i was going kinda and i did have a map and 2 other gps sources with me but still my main GPS going out was lame.
so we got to Modesto and it was raining. rain rain rain... all sorts of rain. yay.
load in for the show went really well, i didn't think that we were going to get anything done anytime soon. i was soon proved totally wrong. the crew was great in every way, they were quick, bright and fun to be around.
i was most taken back by the sound guy, he only asked a few questions here and there and had everything set up and working before i even know it. he was great! mixed everything and did the full check in no time also had everything way clean. blew me away.
so after the show we went to the hotel, which the venue paid for.....fools.... the roomed us up in the Double Tree, which is a extinction of Hilton Hotels. sooo they were really nice and very pretty and comfy. but everything cost an ass ton.... sorry forgot to take pics.
i was given my own room which happened to be on the 7th floor. it was a good view. however i wasn't near anyone else in the group.... which i wasn't too happy about.. i like hanging out with the acrobats. oh well..
so the room ended up being a handicap room. lots of room in this place. the bath room had a huge shower, the bed was a king size, the place was just lovely. however everything that you wanted to do would cost money.... like lets say, water.....5 dollars..... or the internet...10 dollars for 24 hours. and the bar was just stupid as well.. but like i said before... i didn't have to pay hehehehehe, so i drank the water and got the internet. yay. oh then after i was done with the water i filled it back up and set it next to the other one and put the label back on it. pwnd. hehe
now i say good night... tomorrow we drive to Humbolt, ca.

back in cali!!
so we went to Albuquerque, NM for it was a great time. yeah the venue was pretty nice and every body at the venue was great to work with. we had 4 shows to do there. Two of them were full shows and the next day we had two kids shows. they went pretty well.
the first two shows things went wrong ..... here and there.... heh... not my fault really. i was busy.. lol. but the boys.... man... they were soo off... messing up all the time and and such. it was kinda sad. we seem to be having quite the issue with the boys and the brick act... cant seem to break them yet... Its kinda hard to watch ya know.... just looks like it hurts so much!
everything else is going well. driving is fun, and the bus driver is really pretty nice and hasn't messed up yet, though today he went the wrong way down a one way road... that was pretty funny. lol
oh yeah we drove back to cali today. 9 hours and 533 miles. not bad.
life is good.
but i flossed tonight....... i gum really hurt not.. this sucks... bllaaahhhh

New Mexico.
New Mexico round 2, 2010.
so last year if you knew me close enough to hear the story or read my notes, you would have heard about the really shitty time in New Mexico when the time log......
long story short, he got away with my lucky lucky autographed snorkel!!
sorry that last bit was from a weird al song. my bad
anyways, the point of entry stop last year was a pain in my ass and wasnt something i was looking forward to repeating this year, well we did.
only this year was different, i was perpared, i trained, i was ready for anything!! BUT i could only expect that they were as well.....
mono a mona, man to whom ever it was that helped me at that front desk from me behind the glass that you couldn't hear anything through.....
i was ready and it was time.
so i pull up to the station after driving for about 7 hours..... yay? no.
the lady asked for my registration, i hand it to her. she asks" what are you hauling?", "Entertainment gear" i answer. " move on in and get your permit" she replys, i sigh.... step one complete..
next i grab all the crap i might need to get my permit. registration, truck inventory, and the dreaded log book..... i walk inside and as helped about 15 min later.
This time i owned the world.
The guy who helped me was really funny and all he wanted to do is to be somewhere else. asked a good number of times if he could come with us to see the show just to get out of that damn place.....poor kid.. he then weighed my truck, 24,300 lbs, then rang up my permit. 23 bucks i think, now it was my turn to make him laugh, i decided to pay fore my permit with a gift card.
it was epic.
so everything went swimmingly and i actully had a good time with it all. woot!

ok well i drove about 10.75 hours today. and only about 500 miles.

Well today is the dress rehearsal. Things are a bit rough for the acrobats. But oh well this is what they do right? Yesterday was the first day of everything so i had to get all the gear. Which ment driving 80 miles to get it. Man do I dislike driving in Cali. Lol.

i know its been a lot of posts today. but the day is special to me. i get to travel, and to those who know me, you know i like to travel. not to drive but to fly. not sure why but i love the feeling of being away from anything that is safe and constant in my life. its a taste of freedom and survival.
So im in Denver International Airport sitting at my gate playing a bunch of video games and just kinda reading over my last posts from last year.
there is so much emotion in the last week of the tour i almost forgot about it. and then there is the unsure tention in my mind that i dont know what i am doing and this is bigger than me.
but i love it. i soo very much so love it.
im going to miss a lot of you while i am gone. im going to miss a lot of things, but those thoughts of what i dont have will be replaced with the new things that i have to worry about and are in my care, like 100,000 dollars in equipement. heh...
oh well, its just another job and i can do it.

well one last day. and im booked solid.
well tomorrow(monday) is my last day in town.
a get to wake up early, and go to work 10-5, then run around to get supplies to store my car, and then take all my things to my storage unit, and then hope to have a evening with good people. kinda sad to leave the good life. oh and then my flight leaves at 11 am tuesday.
cant wait.
