from maidson we have traveled to our lovely first casino on the tour the harras riverboat. now i didn't really know what to expect at all.. but i was expecting a lot larger of a space. not so much. this was a really small stage made for band and thats about it. lol
this was not a act that this venue was used to at all.
but the line up for stage hands and techs was out of this world full of talent. guys that have been touring all over the world with all the biggest acts ever. so coming into the venue i was a little unsure about the crew, they all seemed like angry union worker type cussing at everyting calling everyone names. so i acted on the defence side of things. turns out they ended up taking offence to it. at least thats what i found out later that night.
so the crew was pretty intresting to work with because of their knowledge and humor.... lets just say some of the things that i would say didn't really translate to the same meaning as what i had attended... more on that later.
the show was great, it was a little different this time, we had to do a hour and a half show, straight though. i guess thats pretty normal for casinos though. so we had to rearange the show a little bit and i was stuck in a corner with about a foot of space to call my own while i peaked my head out of a curtin just to see the stage. it was great. oh and they have an elevator in the back as well as the loading door, both of which needed to be used just to make the show happen!
it was a tight space..
oh so later after the show i was kinda invited to go to the local bar that all the techs go down to and i was giving a very very insightful talkin to from one of the techs that i worked with. and he assisted me in understanding what i needed to work on and things i could do to help myself advance in the bizz as well as just as a person working in the tech world. coming from bend there is very little that i knew of this world that i have entered. so i guess the tech ( mike) has talked to steve a little bit and so i asked mike a question, why of all the people that steve has met why did he hire me. his answer was simple. "talent, but you are rough around the edges" this has been the single most helpful thing said to me as of yet on this tour. i was also given the advice, i need to choose to be the nice fun pleasant guy, or the asshole pain in the neck but with a joking attitude.
i have a lot of building to do. and i have only a week to do it.
wish me luck.

Hey Keenan. Still missing you. I'm glad you're having a good time and learning so much, though. It sounds like you're surrounded by some good people. Just like you deserve.
ReplyDeleteIt's rainy here in Bend OR, gray, windy, cold and not very exciting. But that's winter in central Oregon, I guess.
Love you, Peachy.
XOXO,
Hannah
