i dont know what to say

ummm sooo this is the life i guess? idk...
left where ever it was that i was at.... went somewhere different then i life there to and now im here. to be frank.. lol

so i have traveled to Maryland, New Jersey, and now Pennsylvania.
The last few shows have been going very well. getting some great houses some awesome people and all sorts of great things.
*note* humor in NJ is messed up. as are the accents*

Well today was not one of those days that things were all great and groovy. this was in fact a venue that was rather resistant and rude. Today we found ourselves in Princeton, NJ in a very old house. rather small and such but still a cool old space.
our crew today was made up of people close to my age, staff not students, and some elder guys that have been there awhile.
so the day started off like any other we show up, say hello check out the stage and start moving some stuff in. i treated everyone kindly like i always do, helping in the cases and such, then i go on stage and ask just a few questions to Steve just because i wasn't sure of the answer. it had to do with the house gear. i ask the question and the house TD (technical Director) answers back to me that "we have been doing this show for over 20 years, we know what there are doing". now i don't know if there was something that i said that made him respond in that nature or what but i just went with it. then i see we are setting up our band right next to the rail position, the place where people pull the ropes to make things fly in and out. now normally we ask the rail person if they have access to a double muff headset( just a large pair of headphones. the normal ones only have one speaking thing...*muff*) *note i asked the guy running the rail this question.* i get in response from their TD "look we have it under control just don't worry about it" i was a bit taken back by this. well come to find out that pretty much sets the tone for the entire day. for first 10 minutes ruins the day with the stage crew.
now i will say there were a few times that i did get a little annoyed with them but it was more or less a build up from them just being assholes to me. never listening to what i was telling people to do, or just flat out ignoring me and being pissy.
the big confrontation came just before the show started when i was attempting to page the curtain for the band as i do in EVERY theatre that we have been in thus far. mind you that's about 40 by now. all you do is grab lightly on two points of the curtain and pull towards you. making sure not to show the backstage. now while i am doing this the TD comes over to me and says "no i will do it" I'm like "ok that's fine" and then he grabs the opening of the curtain and just opens it... i was a lil irritated by this and said " that's not paging that's opening" he gets pissed off and says " alright you and me are having a talk right now!" i tell him after i send the band we can talk.
so he takes me to the side and tells me i have been rude and disrespectful to his crew, giving all of them an attitude and treating them like they don't know what they are doing. He tells me that i need to give more respect to everyone because this is their house and i am simply a guest or something to that extent. next he tells me that if i want to page the curtain i need to talk to him, if i want something done i have to talk to him to get it done. i cant just ask one of his crew..... this place isn't even a freaking union!!!! but i guess its still Princeton. lol
my response was that i was sorry for talking rude to him and that i don't know why his crew feels the way i do, i have meant no disrespect and they have done a fine job. they simply just refuse to listen to what i say or need to have happen. the only people that have been pleasant to work with was the LD (lighting Director) and the Sound crew. everyone else was very unpleasant.
Next he also says that i was out of line telling his crew that they could have some of the meat and other stuff that is downstairs. saying that "the venue pays for the talent to have lunch, not to feed us. " my response was " alright, well there is quite a bit of stuff and its tasty so if you would like some then its cool" he says back, " no we will not touch the food, the venue doesn't waste money to feed us." now im pretty confused. if the food isn't theirs then it is ours. if it ours then we dictate what happens with it. so if I tell someone they can have some then it is outside the venues slap on the hand... right? i mean we gave someone a sandwich and she said that she would get in trouble if she is seen with it.....
im like WTF MATE????
idk the venue was super small. i thought it was going to be larger.. oh well. but all in all a good show when it came down to it. honestly don't care to go back to Princeton... and no i didn't get any pics... im lame.

night night..

  1. This is what happens to me all the time for being a girl and being young. Everyone expects me to respect them and bow down, but they NEVER listen to a word I am saying...so in the end I just flip out and start shouting their heads off and then they feel like their opinion about me was justified and I didn't treat them the way I should have...this drives me nuts...
